DAY 319: Rewind: My Tesla Story

Now You Know Youtube Channel featured it in one of their In Depth Friday videos. I'll just leave this here to enjoy. If the video doesn't queue up the the right place, fast forward to minute 29:40.

DAY 313: Hit and Run

Last night while lying in bed, I heard a screech of tires and then a loud bang. No doubt, a car accident happened just out my front doors. I grabbed my slippers and ran downstairs. Neighbours came out one by one, and everyone was looking around. I waited to see if they found anything.

Then one of the neighbours came to me and said "I think you better look at your car. It's pretty bad."

My heart sank. Not again. I grabbed my coat and shoes and went out to inspect my Sparky.

A white car slammed into the front of my car, pushing it back, and creating a lot of damage. This is security camera footage from my neighbours house. My Tesla is parked at the top right corner.

I posted this footage on Twitter and facebook, and right away, someone examined it closely and noticed a little light in the driver's side... like a phone.

It makes sense that this is a distracted driving issue, because there is a bend in the road, and an inattentive driver going straight would aim right for my car.

I had started to turn off sentry mode at home several months ago when I noticed that the cameras "got tired" when they ran 24/7. Because I have to park on the street at home, my cameras never get a break. When it started getting cold, and my battery efficiency went down, I decided to turn off Sentry Mode at home. Well, that was a big mistake. No footage. I would have gotten the license plate for sure.

I'm told that Tesla keeps footage in their cloud for up to 48 hours. Going to call when they are open tomorrow and hope they can find it.

I am not looking forward to dealing with the repairs. My last experience was such a horrible and traumatizing journey. I did notice that the shop I used last time is no longer listed as an approved Tesla repair shop, so maybe my feedback did something. (Tesla asked for me to submit... I wasn't going to otherwise).

So I took a good look this morning after trying to get some sleep.

It's been reported to the police. Location is in the Killarnay Area, February 22, 2020 at 10:14 PM. As you can see one of the headlights is out, and the damage would be mainly to the front bumper on the passengers side. Police File VA20-34499. Please report if you think you see this car. I will arrange to send the video footage to them so they can identify.

I am so grateful for all the support and advice from the Tesla community through Twitter and Facebook.

I'm exhausted. Gonna call it an early night (yes, it's 5:45 pm)

I was truly hoping this next blog post would be a recap of the dinner with Trevor Page at Montana's tonight before their big cross-country Canada roadtrip. But I can't risk driving this car there more than I have already. So I am sorry to miss it.

Trevor Page is the creator and main host of the Tesla Owners Online podcast and Youtube channel. If you don't follow them, you are MISSING OUT! (particularly if you are a Canadian Tesla owner!)

This is the second opportunity I'm missing. The first was when they had a meetup together with @Teslatino in Ontario at the same time that I was actually THERE! Obligations with friends prevented my attendance. One day, it will happen! (though I'm kind of a wad around celebrities)
